Naracoorte Caves World Heritage Festival

Naracoorte Caves is celebrating its 30th anniversary of being a UNESCO World Heritage site!

On Saturday November 2, we’re teaming up with Naracoorte Lucindale Council and holding a free World Heritage Festival to celebrate this special milestone.

Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, history buff, or just looking for a fun day out, this event has something for everyone.

Here’s what’s on offer:

Live Professor Flint performance in Blanche Cave

Enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience as Professor Flint, the singing palaeontologist, performs live in Blanche Cave! Join the Professor for a fun and educational performance where he sings about prehistoric life and some of the amazing animals found at the Naracoorte Caves. Fun for all ages!

Guided Tours with Expert Insights

Explore the caves with researchers and students from the University of Adelaide, who will be providing expert insights into the history of the caves and some of the research conducted at the site.

Caves Run

For those seeking adventure, join the Tower Trail Run. With trail lengths ranging from 5km to a full marathon (42.2km), there’s a challenge for every runner. Lace up and get ready, tickets for the run are available now.

Family Fun at the Caves

There are plenty of other activities to take part in through the day. Meet some Australian wildlife, learn some traditional basket weaving methods, get your face painted and watch the Southern Bent-wing Bat live in the Bat Teleview Centre.

Market Stalls & Local Flavours

Wander through market stalls featuring local food, wine, and handmade crafts. It’s the perfect opportunity to indulge in the region’s finest produce while supporting local artisans.

Live Music

Join local musician Amy Verco and students from Stringybach Studio for live music in the main festival area and Caves Café.

A Celebration of Heritage and Community

This festival is all about celebrating the unique history and incredible significance of Naracoorte Caves. As one of the few sites where you can step back in time and explore Australia’s prehistoric past, it’s a chance to appreciate our shared heritage and learn more about the natural world.
